James E. Autry

Partner

A natural consensus builder, Jim’s skills at resolving tangled legal and business issues and reputation for developing workable solutions to intractable problems have earned him the highest possible Martindale-Hubble rating from his peers, that of AV, or very high to preeminent, legal skills. Drawing on more than twenty-five years of real estate law, business transactions, and commercial litigation, Jim is able to resolve issues ranging from the fine tuning of minor business documents and real estate transactions to significant corporate and real estate transactions and litigation. When local businesses need to make “it” work, they look to Jim to devise a plan and put the plan into action.   When the unexpected happens with real estate, Jim figures out the solution.

Jim’s problem solving skills are also well applied in his estate litigation practice. When estates are convoluted or contested, family real estate and business affairs frequently form the basis of the dispute. Jim’s legal and problem solving skills serve families well in their efforts to resolve such difficult issues.

Outside of the law firm, Jim maintains active involvement in the community. From 1990-2000, Jim was an Adjunct Professor, teaching Real Estate Law at Northern Virginia Community College. He has presented seminars in business ethics and legal ethics, and served as corporate counsel to non-profit groups providing assisted living for the physically and mentally disabled.
