Jim has practiced law in Virginia for over 25 years. He has dealt both with litigation and transactional work. His experience as a judge’s law clerk at the Fairfax Circuit Court, an attorney in private practice and as in-house counsel has provided him with a valuable perspective of all the facets of the practice of law. From 1988 to 1995 Jim was Senior Vice President/General Counsel at Jefferson Savings & Loan Association in Warrenton, Virginia. As a member of the management team assembled to save the troubled savings and loan, Jim managed a legal budget that initially totaled a million dollars a year and he knows firsthand what it means to be a client. The management team successfully resolved the S&L’s problems including significant real estate holdings in several states. In 1992 the association was recapitalized through a very successful secondary offering. That experience has allowed Jim to address the legal problems of a number of the banks he represents.
